A study of 50 high school students in the US has revealed that promoting sun protection measures to prevent skin cancer is not as effective as promoting them for anti-aging.
Students were randomly put into two groups, one of which viewed a health-based video emphasizing this risks of developing skin cancer, while the other group were shown a video emphasizing the cosmetic changes related to sun exposure. The results were very interesting, 6 weeks later the group who were shown the video promoting the cosmetic effects of sun exposure had a dramatic increase in the use of sunscreen.
