Hugh Jackman, one of Australia’s favourite sons, has had a skin cancer removed from his nose.

After being encouraged by wife Deb to visit the doctor about an unusual bump on his nose, Jackman had the bump removed which was later confirmed as a basal cell carcinoma (BCC).

BCC’s are the most common type of skin cancer in Australia, and are generally can cause severe damage to the skin and surrounding tissue.
They are characterised by a shiny, pearly nodule on the skin and can also present as a small red patch like eczema.

Jackman has jumped on social media to promote the sun safe message, announcing to fans ” Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen.”
