New Warning about Skin Cancer Apps

A new study, published in JAMA Dermatology, has investigated the accuracy of a number of Iphone & Android apps which claim to help detect skin cancer.

188 images were tested across the apps, with 60 melanomas being apart of those sent for testing.

No particular apps are named in the study, however it is said that even the best performing app only had a predictive positive value of 42.1%.

More concerning was 75% of the apps incorrectly classified 30% or more of the melanomas as being benign and not risky. Read More Here.
