The Cancer Councils award winning ‘Sun Sound’ looks to be creating some welcomed positive influences. The sun safety jingle, produced by Ben Lee and Sony Music, was launched last year and is designed to remind those outdoors to reapply their sunscreen and undertake sun safety practices.
Since playing the jingle every hour this summer (during 10am – 3pm), staff at the Chermside Aquatic Centre have noticed it is having a very positive impact on visitors.
“In the past month we have noticed a big change in SunSmart behaviour and more than ever we are seeing people regularly reapply their sunscreen,” Chermside Aquatic Centre manager Jason Pfingst said.
“When the jingle goes off we find that more people are approaching us to purchase sunscreen or visiting the lifeguards to use the stuff they have available there.”
