Melanoma More Likely For QLD Men

Almost 60% of melanomas diagnosed throughout Queensland during 2009 were on males. During the same period, of the 250 melanoma deaths in Queensland, 170 (68%) were men.

Interestingly the Cancer Council Queensland’s Public Health Manager, Louise Baldwin, said that melanoma incidence was actually slightly higher among women until the age of 45. After 45 melanoma rates among males skyrockets.

It is said that the high rates of melanoma in Queensland men is largely due to the poor safety precautions taken to offer the body protection from Ultra Violet Radiation. Read More Here
